Benefits Of Oak Flooring In Your Home

There are many benefits to be found from removing your old carpets and instead enjoying a more modern look of solid oak flooring.
Below I have detailed what some of those benefits are and why you might want to consider making a swap to wooden flooring.

Carpets Are Harder To Maintain

If you have carpets in your home, you will no doubt be aware that they get dirty very easily and can stain and discolour over time. Cleaning a carpet is hard and sometimes a job that is put off due to the sheer size of the job. You can hire in professionals, but again this is something that will cost you more money and time.

If you opt to have an oak floor in your home your upkeep and maintenance will be very different from that of looking after carpeted flooring. You can easily keep the luster and finish of your oak flooring lasting for years with some simple easy maintenance.

Oak Flooring Will Last A Lifetime

An oak floor, and also any other type of wooden floor will last for years if properly maintained and cared for with some simple techniques. Other benefits of oak flooring are that it is practically impermeable to liquids which can make it a good choice for kitchens and bathrooms as well as other areas of the home. Oak flooring is very hard wearing and durable making it a good choice for high traffic areas as well as general living areas.

Oak Flooring Is Easy To Maintain

When it comes to looking after your flooring some basic sweeping and mopping will help to keep it looking beautiful. Every now and then you may wish to clean the floor using a product that will maintain the flooring's finish.

Oak Flooring Is Easy To Repair

With oak flooring if you should notice a deep scratch or mark you will not have to replace the whole floor! The scratches can be repaired and if necessary you can simply replace the panel that is affected quite easily.

Summary Of Benefits

So to summarise the benefits of oak flooring, it is both durable and hard wearing, beautiful to look at, will last for years and is suitable for all areas of the home including the kitchen and bathroom.

oak flooring essexHOW DOES IT WORK?

The process for sanding and refinishing your oak floors involves the following:

  1. First we will clean your oak flooring thoroughly in preparation for sanding.
  2. Sanding the wooden floors - next we begin sanding the oak floor until all the old surface is removed and smoothed out.
  3. Staining the wooden floor - if you have decided to have the floor stained rather than leaving the natural colour of the wood then the wooden floor is now stained with one or two coats.
  4. Finishing the oak floors - Once the staining is complete and dry the floors are coated and given a professional finish with a polyurethane lacquer. Once the floors are finished they will look amazing and you won't believe it is the same floor!
